There was a ownership dispute on Duman River and the northern ‘Gando(間島)’ region between Korea and China during the 1880s. Up until the present day, the various ‘Gando problems’ stem from such historical dispute and the related ‘facts’ encompass a vast range of issues which impedes any research that systematically and comprehensively deals with the problem. The book is an in-depth examination on the process behind the two rounds of joint meetings and narrows on time/topic in order to accurately and specifically rearranges the related historical facts. The book removes unnecessary misapprehensions and arguments displayed by the foregone disputes and focuses on the facts in order to establish the foundation for future research. The author comprehensively examines both sides of the Korea-China ‘Gando’ dispute by studying most of the resources from related domestic and international institutions and the book’s significance lies on providing a basis for future research from a new standpoint.
